St Andrews auditorium in Mumbai reverberated with sounds of music coupled with cheers and applause from the audience as Furtados School of Music’s ‘Band it’ festival began its grand finale to choose the Best School Band of India.
The Competition
Furtados School of music stormed into its 2nd year of Band it festival with a Big musical Bang. This year the interschool music competition saw the numbers double in every sense with a whooping number of 101 bands participating in the competition! While 74 schools from all over India sent entries in the competition. The auditions were held in some of the major cities in India in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Bangalore.
The Band it competition saw some breath taking performances from the school kids almost making it challenging for the judges to select the finalists and the champions.
The Winners
Chaos Riff from Euro International School Airoli were declared the winners of the competition and The Bawse from Lawrence High School Bangalore were the runners up. The competition even picked an audience favorite in Rising Rockstars from Cathedral and John Connon High School.
The Grand Finale Toppings
Khwab Harya (Drummer and Percussionist) and Rhys Sebastian (The talented Saxofone prodigy) were the finale judges.
“The FSM Ensemble”, FSM’s own band also performed during the finale and kept the audience on their toes with their upbeat performance.

After just 2 competitions, FSM’s Band it competition has generated traction in the music community, Schools, Children and parents equally. It’s a much appreciated sapling right now and very soon the festival will bloom into a mighty tree and we can’t wait for the day when that happens. And it’s only possible because everyone loves music and appreciates the beauty of it, and we at Furtados believe that ‘Band it’ is just another way to celebrate life.
