And when the music begins, the high pitch strumming of the guitar, the drumming coupled with the vocals and the excitement flowing through these children, that’s when we know that we have created magic – Magic through Music. Furtados School of Music’s brainchild the Band It festival which was conceptualized just last year is taking great strides in the circles of music. We are gearing up for the second year of this inter-school music competition, which is a one of its kind music competition for school children. Designed to promote and showcase the music talent in the country the festival is getting a lot of attention from students, parents and the musical fraternity equally. In an attempt to bring out the talent in music from an early age we have created this competition to encourage the young musicians and give them a platform to perform. Last year the festival took place in the dream city of Mumbai and we got a whooping number of 55 rock bands from various schools who participated in the competition. Celebrities from music fraternity like Chintu Bhosle, Dominique Cerejo, Ryhs Sebastian, and the Blue Blood Band took part in the competition as judges and also mentored the top 10 finalists. The Rhythmic Gang from St Stanislaus became the champions of this competition for 2017. There were several other prizes awarded in the category of Best Instrumentalist, Best Vocalist, and Audience Favorite etc. Looking at the awe inspiring response we received last year, this year we are taking the competition a notch up and going pan India. The auditions will take place in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Bangalore and around 500 schools have been invited across all these cities. The amount of talent we find in these school children is limitless, and we know we are going to see a lot more of it this year as well. The enthusiasm and the dedication towards music that these young performers bear within themselves makes it all worthy for us at FSM and we can’t wait for the competition to begin this year.
